Medmar’s new production base: Denizli

Medmar launched Blue Ice Grey, extracted at its quarry in Konya, in 2020. We met Erol Berberoğlu, the board chairman of the company, and were informed about new investments in the company. Adding a new color to the sector with Elegance and starting Cappadocia Grey production at its quarry in Karaman, the company continues its operations. They added a new grey stone to their product portfolio after a new quarry was bought in Denizli. Erol Berberoğlu, Medmar’s board chairman, starts informing us about it as we ask him about the stone.

As self-confident as always, Berbeoğlu starts talking, “We are quite assertive due to our new quarry in Denizli. Our new stone in Denizli has a light grey shade. Its homogeneous structure makes it compatible with cut-to-size block production. Blue Ice Grey and Cappadocia Grey, which are our new products in the sector, drew a lot of attention among our clients. Our partner firms are quite satisfied with the results and place new orders.”

Erol Berberoğlu underlines a point about Medmar’s production policies at this point. He says “epoxy” and continues: “Like Blue Ice Grey, the most important aspect of our new stone is that it does not need epoxy. Our target at the company is to manage epoxy-free quarries. When you use epoxy, you add $10-15 per square meter. So the stones without it have higher profit margins. Our clients sense this advantage and we are happy about it. We aim at increasing our production.”

For our 59. issue, we concentrated on the Chinese market. Because of this reason we asked Medmar’s Board Chairman Erol Berbeoğlu his opinions about the novelties in the Chinese market. Berbeoğlu says, “The results of the global pandemic, the inevitable economical crisis and its negative effects are felt in each country. However, as a businessman that has gone to China for 20 years, I can easily say that Chinese people are hardworking and honest. They are a strong country both in material and moral terms. I don’t doubt that it will be as it used to be in a short period of time.”
