About 2 years ago… We were chatting with friends from the sector in Afyon. “A spaceport is being built in Dilovası, have you been there?” one of them asked… That day we learned about Mitra Marble and the extraordinary factory being built in the Dilovası Organized Industrial Zone. A few days later, we visited the factory with company partners Ahmet Güldiker and Selçuk Çolak and admired the technological investment and the details that had been considered. A few months later, production started at Mitra Marble. So how has Mitra progressed in the last 1.5 years, what has it done? For this, we once again start a conversation with Ahmet Güldiker, one of the partners of Mitra Marble.
Mr. Ahmet is very pleased with the performance of the company in the last 1.5 years. Returning to the goals at the beginning of the road, he underlines the following points: “When we set out on our journey, our goal was to bring to our country a facility of the type we have seen in Italy and the USA, planned with an integrated system, processing with the latest technology and having high quality standards in terms of workmanship. In a short period of 1.5 years, I can say that we have made great progress towards this goal. One of the biggest indicators of this is the large number of quarries that deliver marble blocks to us not only from Turkey but also from abroad. Today, companies from Italy, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Iran, Iran, India, Pakistan, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Tunisia and Albania prefer Mitra to cut their blocks. We deliver these stones to domestic and foreign markets in the highest quality.”
The recent increase in the export of processed products in Turkey draws attention. At this point, we wonder about the role of companies like Mitra, which have a high level of production quality. Ahmet Güldiker smiles and says, “As we succeed in quality competition with the world, exports of processed products will increase and we will provide added value to our sector. We believe that our processed product exports will increase every year on the path pioneered by Mitra. At this point, keeping the quality bar at the same level with the world will play a key role. Because at the point where we achieve quality, it is much more economical to process the raw material in Turkey in every respect. The logistics advantages of our country are one of the strengths of our sector, because marble is a heavy product and its transportation is expensive.”
After 1.5 years of progress, we talk about the coming period. For example, where do they see Mitra in 5 years? Ahmet Güldiker starts by saying “5 years is a very long time” and concludes his words as follows: “We have only been in operation for 1.5 years, but we continue to develop rapidly. Nowadays, we are completing our 2nd epoxy line with our new investment. With our new investments, we are bringing the latest technology robot-resin and resin-vacuum lines to our country, and we are about to break new ground in Turkey. Thanks to this investment, Mitra will both carry its production quality to a unique point and double its production capacity. Mitra brand will keep contributing to the development of the sector with its rapid growth strategy.
