As they put it, “two partners who came from the oil business.” Hakan Ural’s introduction to the marble industry began when he started working with his uncle, who owned construction machinery. Greasing excavators and loaders, Ural became familiar with marble, and his biggest asset in life became his entrepreneurial spirit.
FROM THE GROUND UP
Here’s how they describe those early days: “After I came back from military service, we bought a machine together with my uncles. For a while, we worked in the mining industry. But later, we returned to marble. I first encountered the industry in 1996. In 2009, I founded our first company, which was truly growing from the ground up. At Doçe Mining, we had Chinese partners. Later, the company was acquired, and we sold it. In 2015, I started West Mining with my partner. In 2024, I left the partnership and embarked on a new adventure.”
FELIX GREY-DIAMOND GREY
Now, we arrive at that new adventure—Ural Group and Ural Marble. In 2024, Hakan Ural and Ali Düzgün came together and founded Ural Group. The company owns a grey marble quarry in Beyşehir Üzümlü. Two elegant stones are extracted from here: the lighter-toned one is Felix Grey, and the darker-toned one is sold as Diamond Grey. Ural Mining also has a factory in Denizli. This factory, equipped with cutting-edge technology, will begin operating at full capacity next month. A first-class production will be carried out in a 41,000 m² area, of which 7,000 m² is covered. An investment of 13 million dollars has been made for this. How far will the partners’ dreams take Ural Group?
