D Marble emerged from a partnership that is exemplary for not only the Turkish natural stone sector but also any other Turkish company. Having competed for many years in Diyarbakir, Beden Marble, Dimer, Diyar Mining and Medos Mining came together and bought ex Toprak Marble’s shares from Demirören Group. With the purchase of the company, which has been inactive since 2010, in May 2019, an intensive work started. For both the factory in Lice with an indoor area of 20.000 square meters, and the quarries in Hani and Kocakoy, a total of 30.000.000 TL has been invested so far for future operations.
Stating that it was time to start production, Bülent İpek, the board chairman of DMarble, informed about their work. Indicating their factories’ operation as their primary goal in the first phase, he said, “We’ve completed infrastructure, worksite building and all the other preparations in this regard. Our quarries started operating on July 1, 2020. We scheduled September 15 for our factory in Lice. The factory’s maintenance and modernization processes are almost complete.”
Mentioning the importance of such an investment in a business, which has been inactive since 2010, for the region, İpek said, “This partnership emerged with the initiative of Diyarbakir Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It has a 2% share in our company. It’s been an important step for the region. As of July 2020, we employ 110 people. We’re planning to increase this number up to 250 in the next season.”
