It is a well-known story. Michelangelo, the great genius of Italian art, was asked, “How do you make such beautiful sculptures?” He answered without a moment’s hesitation: “Those beauties are already in the stone, I just throw away the excess…” Natural stone is such a special heritage. A heritage that has been formed over millions of years and stands out like a work of art in almost all landmarks and historical buildings around the world. Especially when it meets with labor and skillful hands, it is a magical heritage that catches the eye with its sparkle… The heritage of nature.

We are in Balıkesir… Inside a private villa. A villa that proves how fascinating natural stone can be when it meets with skillful hands. At first sight, one wonders, “Whose signature is under this work?” We ask, and the answer does not surprise us. D Style Marble… We learn that the company, whose booth design, detailing and elegance we admired at Marmomacc 2023, has undertaken all natural stone workmanship from application to supply of this project. And we knock on the door of Dilek Akbarpour Karaoğlan, one of the partners of D Style Marble, to learn the details.

In this project where you feel the beauty of natural stone to your bones, 3 main features stand out. Denizli travertine, Taurus black and Marmara dolomite… The ‘harmony of contrast’ stands out in the corridors and entrance section of the villa where approximately 1000 square meters of natural stone is used. The floor with the unique dolomite of Marmara Island is framed with Toros (Taurus) Black. The diamond patterns formed by the two stones in the corridors, the effort and detailing spent here are something to be admired.

On the upper floor, we encounter ‘travertine sovereignty’. We walk through a corridor lined with premium quality Denizli travertine and enter the study. Tumbled travertine was preferred on the floor as a complement to the black furniture, gray walls and stylish paintings. This leads to a bedroom. This time, the choice of vein cut medium travertine on the floor draws attention. The blasted travertine on the wall of the toilet in the bedroom looks really stylish together with the counter and sink. Likewise, we see that the bathroom is made entirely of travertine.

And we think it is the most fascinating point of the house. The master bedroom… In the middle of the gray and white walls lies the Toros (Taurus) Black. Together with the curtains and the lighting, it is an absolutely flawless beauty. The master bathroom consists of two parts. The elegance of Toros Black greets us again on the floor, walls and sink. In the hammam section, we come across Ekvator Marmara, the constant stone of this area. With the bookmatch created on the wall, the bathroom is given a ‘golden touch’.
