A Fortiori touch on 250 years of history: Rami Library

On the one hand, a historical monument. A 250-year-old work built in the 1770s on an area of 40 thousand square meters. Formerly known as Rami Barracks. On the other hand, a company with 70 years of history, which continues to do business under the management of the 3rd generation with the energy of the first day and the quality equipped with high technology. Gökyar Marble. At this point, a fascinating beauty emerges from the meeting of a historical building with master hands: Rami Library.

A 250-year-old barracks has taken on a completely different face after 1.5 years of restoration. Rami Library is a unique cultural center with more than 2 million books, exhibition halls and a museum. It is also the third largest library in the world. It is as if you are following the footsteps of history in a lush green courtyard. One must also appreciate the hands that restored this unique and historical work with an architecture that preserves the same atmosphere.

We come to the point where the project is so harmonious with the historical texture of the building. Natural stone supply and applications. Gökyar Marble’s sister company Fortiori Stone, which focuses on outdoor, landscaping, hard floor applications and urban furniture, has reflected its masterful touch to many European cities to the Rami Library. Cappuccino stone, produced from the company’s quarry in Bilecik Söğüt, has really harmonized perfectly with the project. Fortiori Stone Board Member Fatih Keleş underlines that the Rami Library is a very special heritage.

Giving information about the project, Keleş says the following about the Rami Library: Rami Barracks, with its history of approximately 250 years, has become one of the most important cultural venues of Istanbul with the completion of the restoration, renovation and reconstruction project. Space arrangements were realized by using our Cappuccino (Söğüt Beige) stone in all spaces. Spatial distinctions were emphasized by using stones of different sizes with different surface treatments on the flooring. Stones with a thickness of 8 cm were used in the floor coverings. We are proud to take part in this project of 10 thousand square meters in total.”
